Power Levels
Some Characters are much stronger than others so the game can be a little unbalanced depending on which Character with which you play. Power Level is a measure of how powerful a Character is and as long as if all players have the same Power Level it's a fair game between them.
Also note that there are four Characters that steal from others - the Thief (takes Objects, Magic Objects, and Gold), the Rogue (takes Spells), the Sorceress (takes Followers), and the Ghoul (takes Lives). In a game with one other player their Special Ability to steal is nearly useless (but fixable) and their Power Level depends on how many other Characters there are in the game. Now you know your Power Level the only real question is to balance this out do you make the weak Characters stronger or the strong Characters weaker? You might want to make all the Characters weaker to make the entire game more challenging.
You might make all the Characters stronger to enjoy a quicker game. You might even weaken or strengthen some Characters and not others to help out a new player or make it challenging for that smarty pants that wins all the time. You have lots of options.
